Our director, Nikki Blackmer, has created and recorded a vocal workout for singers recovering from Covid-19 -- or, for that matter, any singer wanting to build breath and stamina. She is happy to share it with the singing community. Of course, this warmup should be used in conjunction with your doctor's care.

That AJoy Feeling

A Cappella Joy member Meredith wrote this lovely essay about the joys of singing with the chorus.           

I get asked sometimes how I decided to try singing with A Cappella Joy. The short version is that a friend of a friend had been posting a lot about her experience being a member of AJoy. It looked incredibly fun, and I love to sing. It turned out AJoy rehearses about ten minutes from my house. It was worth checking it out.

That’s just part of the story, though. Truth is, what brought me to my first rehearsal was a performance video.

Nikki and the Supertonics!

We are proud to announce that our director, Nikki Blackmer, has been chosen by Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus to direct their new a cappella ensemble, the Supertonics. These two choruses are Seattle icons, with a mission of building community as well as producing great musical entertainment. Together, they make up the largest community choral organization in North America and the largest LGBTQ-identified men’s and women’s choruses in the world.

“I’m excited to be working with this fantastic organization,” said Nikki. “We are going to have so much fun!”
